If we can prevent the government from wasting the labor of the people
under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy. - Thomas Jefferson

Hemorraging Wealth

Whooo-Boy! A lot of people sure got a little less wealthy today!

At this point: (Shares slump as rescue bid fails) (BBC)
Dow down 6%
Nasdaq down 7.8%
FTSE (London) 6.3%
Dax (Frankfurt) 4.2% etc. etc.

Well, lets just say that all of the markets in the world that weren't snug in their beds when our congress grew a pair and decided against giving $700 BILLION dollars to the very people that helped to bring our financial system to its knees went into free fall.

I'm torn. I'm happy to see our congress actually stop to think about what they are doing before throwing shit-tons of our money into a bottomless pit (Despite the leaderships best efforts to prevent independent thought). However, its only a matter of days before enough people cave to the whims of their party and they begin their attempts to bulldoze cash into that pit.

P.S. Even Iceland (Times UK) is nationalizing its banks!

Sweet Socialism

Yes folks, we have pretty much socialized the banking system. This'll help the guys in the financial industry keep their high paying jobs instead of watching their jobs disappear around them as their failures lay waste to everything they've built. Now they have a little island of taxpayer money to stand on and claim that that this whole mess wasn't their fault. After all, you don't expect them to do a thorough background check on EVERYone they gave a loan to, do you? They made so much money from subprime! It wasn't their fault!

Have I mentioned?

Have I pointed out that we're paying McCain and Obama a salary this year?

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure we rarely get our money's worth from ANY Senator, but these guys aren't getting ANYthing done...

Also, don't get me wrong, its not like they get paid a whole lot. By McCain's standards, someone making $169,300 (About.com) is middle class at best.

US judge rejects saggy jeans law(BBC)

This story is ok; makes complete sense. I could really give a shit about what other people are wearing. If I WAS interested in seeing what other people were wearing, I'd tune into the fucking fashion channel.
So, why does this article get posted? Because Taxpayers in Florida (and around the country) are spending an incredible amount of their mostly hard earned cash on their congress' and judges to discuss whether or not our government should dictate what people can and cannot wear.
Actually... Not WHAT we wear, but HOW we wear it!
Hello Nationalized Uniforms! I hope we at least get to select the color of our uniforms from a list. Or, maybe we could just settle on some sort of a dismal gray for all...

Maybe it would be best...

Maybe it would be best if we all started paying more taxes... There's a lot of rich bankers that would really like to stay pretty darn rich and not lose *everything*. Heaven fucking forbid we should we should use our taxes to build better schools and try to avoid bridge collapses.

More from the Pakistan Border

Pakistan soldiers 'confront US'

The Pakistani Army took a few shots across our bow. We turned around. Who knew other countries didn't like being invaded?
