Bodies on the bus go round and round

Only because my bus driver label tag is underutilized, I present to you the story of a bus driver who killed 15 of his passengers on a bright March day.

Emergency personnel, cops, DAs, Governor Quomo, the National Transportation Safety Board, a Grand Jury, Judge Villegas, and the prison warden and guards all get involved because Ophadell 'I got this' Williams "was not only aware of what precautions to take but made a series of conscious decisions not to take them."

The very least you expect from your bus driver is for him or her to not kill you...

Alligators in Missouri

Another example of a wonderful bit of police work.

The Independence, Missouri police department got a call reporting a 'gator sighting near a tree by a pond. Being sure to do their due diligence, the police called the local conservation officer to determine how best to dispatch the foul beast before it starts eating children. With solid advice from the conservation officer, they knew upon arrival on the scene that shooting this monster in the head is the only way to save the townsfolk from their certain demise.

Since the due dilligence part of the case was behind them, three officers (in case the first two were overcome by the angry reptile) got to the scene, pulled out their rifles and just started shooting.

You and I might wonder why this alligator hadn't moved since the report was phoned in, some calls were made, and the police reported to the scene. You and I might have looked down the scope of the rifle to see that this stoic troglodyte isn't moving even a bit. You and I might have even wondered why this particular lizard wasn't green like the ones we've seen on Animal Planet.

But it wasn't until the second bullet bounced off the evil creature's head before they realized this concrete lawn ornament was not a threat to anyone but their imaginations. As it turns out, the property owner bought the statue to keep kids off his property. I bet it worked on the kids.

Too bad it didn't work on the cops...

What a riot!

With 2 guards and 4 support staff, it was time to conduct breathalyzer tests on inmates at Ford prison. 2 guards and 4 support staff quickly turned into 2 fire engines and 140 prison staffers when the riot broke out.

Some of what costs tax dollars:
1.) In this prison, they had "a pool room with 10 newly-installed pool tables"
2.) The prisoners destroyed this room, along with a mail room, a gym, and a snooker room. I'm glad so much has been invested into the comfort of these gentlemen. Now if only we could somehow get them to STOP DESTROYING IT ALL!
3.) "Specialist prison guards in body armour have been tackling rioting inmates" - THAT can't be cheap
4.) Prisoner transfer costs - "damage was severe and prisoners had begun to be moved out of the compound to elsewhere"
5.) "Once control is fully re-established, a review is called for to determine how and why this happened"
6.) "[calls] for upgraded CCTV for the site to be installed as a priority"

Well, I hope you boys had fun.

Laws of Physics

Above the laws of the land? You betcha.
Above the laws of physics? Nope!
The flashing lights are on to let you know this is an emergency.

PS -
Shown:
The officer, doing nothing, on the clock.
A portion of the crew working to get the car out, whether government employees or contractors.
Damage to completed work in a road construction project.
Not Shown:
Re-demolishing this concrete area.
Re-completing the work in this road construction project.

PPS - I'd be willing to bet the police cruiser in the picture was still idling.

Overzealous

A 12 year old girl got caught writing on her desk at school with a marker. Her overzealous teacher summarily dragged her to the overzealous principal's office who decided only the police could properly handle such an outrage. When the overzealous officers arrived, they cuffed her and did a perp walk out to the car. She was tried and convicted in a 'Family Court', sentenced to 8 hours of community service and an essay about what she's learned from the ordeal.

Having been chapped from being so spanked, our little graffiti artist got her overzealous father to call some overzealous lawyers to sue both the school district and police department. All the pain and suffering endured by this poor girl must be worth at least $1 MILLION. After all, she was in custody almost the whole day!

The head lawyer in the case Joseph "Opportunity Knocks" Rosenthal, wants to be clear: "We want to stop this from happening to other young children in the future."
Because it has nothing to do with the MILLION bucks...

Overzealous government staffers open the door for overzealous lawyers. And I haven't even mentioned the janitor's time involved in cleaning the desk...

Say you're sorry with cheescake

A visit and apology from the New York Police Commissioner, a cheesecake, and countless man hours harassing an elderly couple are just some of the unexpected costs of an IT glitch.

Rose and Walter Martin were visited by the police 50 times in the last eight years because their address had been randomly entered during the testing phase of a new 'crime tracking' system. Having never correctly purged the information, the police were fed the same bad information each time and blindly followed their orders.

Rather than investing the money in better paid and well-trained officers and investigators, the city has found it much easier to just buy a computer that randomly spits out addresses for them to bust in on. I'll bet they call this system The Judge and it automatically prints out a signed search warrant with each address it provides.

Screaming "Police! Open Up!" at 80 year old folks rather than investigating crime...

Hey Sarge, I think we better confiscate this Wii

I know, this is a pretty old one, but I missed it the first time around. As luck would have it, it has recently been added to the FailBlog.org site for voting so I didn't miss it this time 'round.

Back in September, a few different police departments got together for a good ol' fashioned drug raid. Luckily for them, no one was home.

How is this lucky you ask?

Because they didn't even have to ask to play dude's Wii!

Yes. After the initial rush of making sure the house was cleared of evil doers, these officers opted for the more engaging rush of Wii Bowling.
I insist that you watch at least parts of the video... Be amazed with me as the female officer jumps up and down, leaping for joy as she rolls strike after strike. Watch as many different officers wait their turn. And then there's this confusing little diddy at the end where an officer chooses to pantomime his fucking a person doggy style while spanking his partner's ass. I suspect, though have my doubts, that this imaginary mate was of the opposite sex...

So there you have it. Outstanding personal and professional conduct. I'm impressed, officers. Thoroughly impressed.

Children in cars

No shortage of keeping the taxpayer funded traffic cops of the world busy...

In Australia, one driver had his priorities straight. When pulled over, the constable discovered that while he and his passengers had taken the time to use the meatbelt to strap in a 30 pack of beer, they were allowing a 5 year old child sit bitch on the floor in the back seat. (meatbelt=seatbelt, sittin' bitch=sitting in the middle, in this case, on the hump in the floor)
The driver couldn't fathom why he was getting a ticket for a child not wearing a meatbelt.
Aussie straps in beer, not child(bbc)

In Canada, a rather brilliant man had his 7 year old son take a drive on a rainy day. What makes this fellow particularly brilliant is the fact that he filmed it, then posted the video on YouTube. I'll bet his wife was pissed, right? Nope, she was in the back seat.
He could be heard egging the child on at 25mph and was beaming with pride when the kid got up to 45mph.
Did I mention that it was raining? Good day to start teaching your kid how to drive!

The ham did it!

As the DNA evidence clearly shows, Your Honor, she was assaulted by the ham and swiss on rye.

Amongst other systemic failures, the Cambridgeshire Police Department was found to often store DNA evidence in freezers next to uncovered foodstuffs.

Not to worry. Deputy Chief Constable John 'You Gonna Eat That?' Feavyour personally looked into it and all of the DNA samples that were stored in these conditions were redundant and never affected the outcome of any trials.

Apparently, they were hoping to taint their lunches, not the DNA samples...

When 72 year old great grandmothers go bad

Much like the 70 year old woman who got beat down in Utah last year because her lawn was not the appropriate shade of green, a cop in Texas recently tasered a 72 year old woman for refusing to sign a speeding ticket even though she was not required to do so by law.

Well, she started swearing enough to make the cop blush. And what else is a cop supposed to do when he is driven to blushing? The Taser, yeah yeah, the Taser.

In a situation where a fully grown man, trained to handle himself in emergencies, decides to incapacitate a little old lady with tens of thousands of volts of electricity, its the 72 year old woman who goes to jail for resisting arrest.

Testosterone befuddled police salaries and the court cases and jail terms they create...

90 in a 30

As we all know and understand, all cops are above the law. They've no need to heed the rules the rest of us 'normies' must follow.

Which is why the cop in this story was going 90 mph in a 30 mph zone where he hit and killed Hayley Adamson a day before she was to take her GCSE exams. He did not have his lights or his siren on, because he didn't want to alert the driver he was pursuing. Pursuing at 90 mph.
(I would assume that by the time you get up to 90 mph, I'm pretty sure the guy you are chasing knows you're there...)

Whats even creepier about this story is the big brother style license plate recognition system that was in use and failed on this occasion by sending the cop on a 90mph chase after a vehicle and its occupant, which were in complete compliance with the law. Basically, there are cameras on the cop car that automatically read and run the license plates of the vehicles around them. With or without probable cause. In this case, it picked up a car that was recently in non-compliance with the law. The system just hadn't been updated yet.

Or how about the cop that pushed a man to the ground because he happened to be within shoving distance? The man was walking home from work and died of a heart attack minutes after this bit of police brutality. Unfortunately his path took him straight through the G20 protests which had a bunch of cops on the edge all riled up to the brim with testosterone.

It may seem a bit of a stretch to complain so specifically about cops in a blog that would lead you to believe its all about government waste. However, cops are a part of the government. Taxpayer dollars pay their salaries, for the buildings and vehicles, and fund technology designed to invade your personal right to privacy. I've said my peace.

Salaries of cops that appear to feel above the law...

THIS is whybritspaytaxes.

P.S. - At least the 90mph cop will sit in prison, and Officer Shovey is suspended pending investigation. When the cops around here in Rockford Illinois hit people, all charges are dropped in the end. And yes, it happens somewhat frequently.

Bad Cops Gone Bad

I never realized, until recently, a pretty obvious use of some of lifes technical advances.

As we all know, there has never been a shortage of police ignorance. Many cops are simply people that couldn't elevate themselves into the position of power they crave any other way. They simply go to a laid back boot camp and suddenly a power over ANYONE has been bestowed along with a gun. Whats not to draw the ignorants?

What there WAS a shortage of until the last couple of decades were video cameras. Specifically, just about anyone and everyone having a camera and deciding to keep it rolling when they got pulled over or were about to experience any sort of interaction with the law.

Even more importantly was the shortage of methods for people to share these videos with each other al a YouTube.

In conclusion, do a few searches on YouTube with the keyword police and a mix of the following keywords: corruption, misconduct, arrogance, incompetence, etc. etc. The wealth of videos to watch will leave you both astounded and queasy. The fact that these guys have been given the right to take away your rights is absolutely amazing and a bit profound.
Don't get me wrong, cops provide a valuable service. I just don't know that mostly pretty poorly educated men should have quite so much power...

Special thanks to badphoenixcops.com for opening my eyes to this obviously rich source of angst against my government. (Not to mention a pretty entertaining read about a pretty darn corrupt police force)
