Clean Air Iowa

Millions of tons of concrete and blacktop poured on the Earths surface for our convenience.
Check.

Millions of tons of CO2 in the atmosphere to bring that concrete, dig a path, and pour it for our convenience.
Check.

Millions of tons of CO2 in the atmosphere from commuters, road trippers, semi trucks, and people bringing their vacation RVs that could house several 3rd world families.
Check.

BUT DON'T YOU DARE SMOKE A FUCKING CIGARETTE IN AN OPEN-AIR REST AREA ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE IN IOWA! That shit could kill you!

Yes. The State Legislature of Iowa has so little to do, it took the time to write, debate, and pass a law banning cigarette smoking in rest areas along the Interstates. Because, when they rest 100 yards from some of the busiest Interstate traffic in the country, they don't want to inhale air pollution.

Hell, there was probably more pollution emitted into the air when they manufactured, painted, transported and installed several of these signs in every rest area in the state.

But its the second hand smoke thats gonna get you...

The pollution level of Iowa is on the rise as I could find from the different websites that provide informations on air pollution level. It is high time government and people join together to deal with the situation.

Fair enough. How about we start with 9 of the 10 biggest emitters of heat-trapping gases then. Notice that cigarette smoke doesn't even make the list.

All I'm saying: banning cigarette smoking in the open air next to busy interstates is like saying I'm going to help prevent the ice caps from melting by putting an extra ice tray in my freezer. So long as it makes me feel better, then I'm doing my part!

Fuck Iowa. It is a shit state that needs to choke on its own interstate smog. Sure, I appreciate the corn it produces that helps feed our nation (and other nations). However, I am sure that none of those farmers can afford to travel right now. I love the mommies against smokers groups that get these state laws passed. Why don't smokers form their own lobbies? Oh, wait. Two reasons. We assume big tobacco will take care of it for us. Also, we...get this...many of us have JOBS! Jobs to pay for the ciggies (and the soccer moms on welfare). This takes away from our lobbying time! If I find one of those zealous anti-smoking bitches...I will...um, blow smoke in her face?
